Wheelchair, Walker & Lift Chair Hire — North Island NZ

Hire wheelchairs, walkers and lift chairs across the North Island — couriered to your door. Mobility Plus is a family-owned business based in Pūtāruru, South Waikato. We hire quality, hospital-grade-cleaned mobility equipment from $20 per week (minimum hire 1 week; lift chairs 2 weeks). Decide to keep it? Our Hire-to-Buy option puts what you've paid towards buying the same item.

What you can hire

Everything we hire is professionally cleaned and hospital-grade disinfected between customers. Wheelchairs and walkers wipe down completely; our lift chairs are hired with a mandatory fitted protective cover, so upholstered seating stays just as hygienic for the next person.

Wheelchairs

  • Goldfern Lightweight Transit Wheelchair (attendant-pushed)
  • Lightweight Folding Transit Wheelchair (attendant-pushed)
  • Goldfern Lightweight Self-Propelled / Manual Wheelchair (wheel yourself)
  • Goldfern Economy Manual Wheelchair (wheel yourself)

Walkers & rollators

  • ECO Lite Walker (with seat)
  • X-Lite Easy Fold Walker (standard)
  • X-Fold MINI Rollator (narrow)
  • Tri Walker (3-wheel)
  • Knee Walker

Lift chairs

Also called rise-and-recline or riser-recliner chairs — now available to hire across the North Island. Each chair comes with a mandatory fitted protective cover that stays on for the whole hire.

  • Infinite Position Lift Chair — independent back and footrest for a near lie-flat recline
  • Heavy Duty Lift Chair — higher weight capacity for larger users
  • Zero Gravity Lift Chair — reclines to a legs-up "zero gravity" position that takes pressure off the back

Temperature management

New — hire the iCare HydroSense active heating & cooling unit. The skin-contact pad or wrap is bought separately and kept, so every hire stays completely hygienic.

HydroSense temperature unit hire — active heating & cooling

The iCare HydroSense is an active temperature-management system that circulates temperature-controlled water through a pad or body attachment to keep you at a comfortable temperature through the night or during rest. Unlike a passive cooling mat, it actively heats and cools — cooling you when you're too warm and warming you when you're cold, anywhere from 8°C to 48°C — on a 1–12 hour timer, from a whisper-quiet unit that uses less power than a light bulb.

It's used for heat sensitivity linked to multiple sclerosis, diabetes, kidney disease, reduced mobility, inflammation, menopause and post-surgery recovery — or simply for anyone who overheats or gets too cold in bed.

How this hire works: you hire the HydroSense control unit. Because the pad, cuff or wrap is the part that touches the skin, you buy that attachment separately and keep it — so nothing skin-contact is ever shared between customers. Choose the attachment that suits you:

Optional add-ons: the Extender Hose for extra reach to your bed or chair, and the Dual Function Splitter to run two attachments at once.

HydroSense unit hire Amount
Unit hire (per week or part thereof) $30
Refundable bond $200
Minimum hire period 4 weeks
Charge Amount
Administration fee (one-off) $50
North Island courier freight (each way) $16.95 — charged both ways ($33.90 delivery & return)
Skin-contact attachment (pad / cuff / wrap) Bought separately & kept — from $124

All prices GST inclusive. Hire is charged per week or part thereof with a 4-week minimum, and freight is charged each way because the unit is couriered out to you and back to us. The $200 bond is refunded once the control unit is returned clean, undamaged and drained. Afterpay and Zip are available on HydroSense hire fees and charges.

How hire works

  1. Enquire — use the form below or call Kellie on 022 022 9956 with what you need and your dates.
  2. We confirm — we check availability, quote your freight, and email you the Hire Agreement to sign.
  3. Bond & first payment — we take the refundable bond and your first hire period, then dispatch.
  4. Return — courier it back (or we arrange collection) by your return date. Your bond is refunded once it's back, clean and undamaged.

Hire-to-Buy

Changed your mind and want to keep it? The hire fees and cleaning fee you've already paid come off the purchase price of the same equipment — only the admin fee and freight aren't included, since once you own it there's no cleaning or return for us to do. Just let us know before you return it and we'll send a Hire-to-Buy invoice for the balance.

Cleaning & infection control

Every hire item is professionally cleaned and hospital-grade disinfected between customers. Wheelchairs and walkers wipe down completely, and lift chairs are hired with a mandatory fitted protective cover that stays on throughout the hire to keep upholstered seating hygienic for the next person. The HydroSense unit is wiped and disinfected between hires, and its skin-contact pad or wrap is bought and kept by each customer, so nothing that touches the skin is ever shared. Additional cleaning fees may apply for heavily soiled equipment.

Helpful add-ons

  • Hiring a walker? Add a walking stick, a stability foot/base or other accessories to your delivery.
  • Hiring a HydroSense? Remember to add your skin-contact attachment (bed pad, mattress pad, cuff, strap, vest or wrap) — it's yours to keep.
