A Matching Bed for the Partner Who Doesn't Need a Hospital Bed

When one person needs a hi-lo bed and the other does not, most couples end up with a hospital bed on one side of the room and an ordinary divan on the other. The IC100 is the alternative — the same frame family, the same eleven colours and the same headboard styles as the IC333 and IC777, without the motors.

It sits at a fixed 35.5cm, close to normal bed height, and rolls on four lockable castors so it can be pulled clear when a carer needs room to work.

Couples who have shared a bed for decades usually do not want the care equipment to end that. Putting a matching static bed alongside the powered one keeps both people in the same room, at the same height, within reach of each other.

It looks like the other bed

Same colour range, same headboard styles, same frame. Ordered together, the two beds read as a pair of bedroom furniture rather than as medical equipment.

Nothing to break

No motors, no handset, no control box, no battery. A static bed has nothing that needs servicing, and it costs a fraction of a powered one.

It moves when the carer needs room

Four lockable heavy-duty castors mean the partner bed can be rolled clear for a hoist transfer or personal care, then pushed back at night.

FAQs - Your Questions Answered

What is a partner bed?

A static bed made to match a powered homecare bed, so a couple can keep sleeping side by side when only one of them needs the hi-lo functions. It is an ordinary bed in every respect except that it is built by the same maker, to the same frame design, in the same fabrics.

Does it go up and down?

No. The IC100 has no motors at all. The platform is fixed at 35.5cm and the head and knee sections do not lift. If the person sleeping in it needs any powered function, they need an IC333 or IC777 instead — give us a call and we will work out which.

Will it sit flush against an IC333 or IC777?

Yes, that is what it is designed for. Order it in the same size and colour as the powered bed. If the powered bed is fitted with side rails, ask us about recessed centre rails so the two beds can still push together.

Can I see one before I buy?

Yes, two ways. Book a video call and we will walk you around the iCare bed range live, showing you the frame, the fabrics and the headboard styles. Or visit our Putaruru showroom in person, which is open by appointment. We currently have the iCare IC333 and Cubro Caro beds there.

Which mattress fits this bed?

Any iCare mattress in a matching size — IC15, IC20, IC25, IC30, M1, M2, M3 or VersaFlo3 — or an ordinary Long Single or King Single mattress if the person sleeping in it has no pressure care need. Stay within the iCare range for a clinical mattress, because iCare and Cubro use different size names and dimensions.

Is a mattress included?

No. The bed is supplied base-only. Contact us and we will quote the bed and mattress together as one price.

Will it fit through my doorway?

Yes. The bed is assembled in the room it will be used in, so a standard doorway is not a problem. Measure the room instead — allow 215cm of length plus the base width, and space to walk around at least one side of each bed.

Can I get funding for this bed?

Funders provide equipment for the person with the assessed need, so a partner's bed is not usually funded. We are a registered vendor with Enable New Zealand, ACC and MSD/Work and Income, and we can quote the IC100 alongside a funded bed as a private purchase — ask us for a written quote.

How is it delivered and assembled?

The bed is made to order and arrives ready to assemble in the room. If you would rather not do it yourself, we can arrange in-home delivery, full assembly and packaging removal from $250 + GST depending on your region — contact us for a quote for your address before you order.
