Continence Care Buying Guide NZ

Continence care products help protect dignity, comfort and skin health at home — for the person managing continence and for anyone caring for them. This guide covers the main options we stock, from absorbent pull-up pants to bed pans and washable protection, so you can choose what fits your situation. If you'd like a discreet chat, our NZ team is happy to help.

Absorbent pants & pads

Adult pull-up pants are worn like normal underwear and are the everyday choice for light-to-moderate needs. Goldfern Comfort Adult Pull-Up Pants come as a pack of 14 or, for regular use, a carton of 10 packs which works out cheaper per pant.

Bed pans & slipper pans

For anyone who can't easily get to the bathroom, a bed pan or slipper pan is essential. We stock a standard Plaspro Bed Pan, the low-profile Plaspro Slipper Pan (easier to position), and the larger Super Slipper Pan. Consider a urinal bottle as well for night-time convenience.

Washable protection

Reusable protection saves money and waste over time. The iCare Full Absorbent Chair Protector shields a favourite chair or recliner and can be washed and reused, which suits long-term care at home.

How to choose

  • Level of need — light, moderate or heavy determines absorbency and product type.
  • Mobility — if getting to the toilet is difficult, add a bed pan, slipper pan or commode.
  • Disposable vs washable — disposables are convenient; washable protectors cost less over time.
  • Skin health — change regularly and keep skin clean and dry to prevent irritation.
  • Buying in bulk — a carton lowers the per-pant cost for regular use.

Continence care FAQs

What's the difference between a bed pan and a slipper pan?

A slipper pan has a low, flat front that slides under the hips easily, so it's ideal when the person can't lift much. A standard bed pan is deeper. We stock both.

Are washable continence products worth it?

For long-term care, reusable options like the iCare Full Absorbent Chair Protector can work out cheaper than disposables over time and reduce waste.

Can I buy incontinence pants in bulk?

Yes — Goldfern pull-up pants come in a pack of 14 or a carton of 10 packs, which lowers the cost per pant for regular use.
