At Mobility Plus NZ, we know that setting up new equipment can sometimes feel overwhelming — especially if you’re ordering it for someone else, or dealing with mobility or health challenges yourself.
That’s why we include a clear assembly rating on every product page, so you can see at a glance how much setup is required before you buy. This helps you make an informed decision and ensures the equipment will meet your needs, not just in use — but from the moment it arrives.
Why we include assembly ratings
We’re an online-only store, which means we can’t provide in-person delivery or installation. But we’re still with you every step of the way — and that starts by making sure you know what’s involved with each product.
Our assembly rating system gives you a realistic idea of what to expect when your order arrives. It helps answer questions like:
-
Can I set this up on my own?
-
Will I need help from someone else?
-
Do I need any tools?
-
Is the item heavy or awkward to move?
Knowing this upfront gives you the confidence to choose a product that suits your situation — or to organise support ahead of time if needed.
Our assembly rating system
Here’s what each rating means:
-
None – No assembly required. The product is fully assembled and ready to use straight out of the box. Just unpack and go.
-
Easy – Minimal setup required. No tools are needed. You may need to unfold, click, or slot a few parts into place (e.g. inserting handles or attaching a storage bag).
-
Simple – Requires one or two basic tools (like a screwdriver or spanner). Straightforward and typically takes 5–10 minutes.
-
Moderate – More involved. You’ll need a few common household tools and may need to follow written instructions or an assembly video. Some bending, lifting, or turning of parts may be required.
-
Moderate/Heavy – Assembly is more complex and may involve heavy parts, multiple steps, or two-person lifting. This rating means you’ll need tools and another person to assist.
You’ll find this rating clearly listed in the Assembly rating section on each product page.
Who is assembly suitable for?
If you're comfortable using basic hand tools or following instructions, most of our products rated Easy or Simple will be manageable for you. For Moderate or Moderate/Heavy products, we recommend having someone nearby to help — especially if the item is large or intended for daily support needs.
If you're purchasing for someone else (like a family member, client, or aged care facility), use the assembly rating to plan ahead. For example, you may want to:
-
Arrange for a caregiver, friend, or family member to help
-
Book a handyman or local service for installation
-
Contact us to confirm what’s involved before ordering
