Dynamic Air Support. Advanced Pressure Care.

The VersaFlo3 is the highest specification pressure care surface we sell — a hybrid system that combines foam and alternating air rather than choosing between them.

Rated for Very High Risk clients. This is the surface for someone with existing pressure injuries, or where a clinical assessment says foam alone is not enough.

WILL IT FIT?

✔ Four sizes, Long Single through to Queen
✔ Requires mains power for the pump
✔ Rated Very High Risk for pressure care, Waterlow 20+

Everything You Need to Know About This Product...

Description

Why a hybrid, rather than air alone

Three layers, each doing a job

An ActiveX comfort layer on top for immediate comfort and redistribution. Adjustable air cylinders beneath, alternating pressure so no single area carries load continuously. An XP Support foundation underneath to prevent bottoming out — the failure that makes a pure air mattress dangerous when the pump is off or the user is heavy.

Quiet enough to sleep through

A whisper-quiet pump with intuitive controls and variable pressure and interval settings. An alternating air system that wakes someone every few minutes defeats its own purpose.

Ready for an emergency

CPR release enables immediate deflation so resuscitation can begin on a firm surface without moving the person.

Repairable, not disposable

A repair kit is included, allowing the mattress to be repaired up to five times before replacement may be required.

Less institutional than it sounds

Clinical performance without the hard, clattering feel of an older alternating air mattress.

FAQs - Your Questions Answered

Do I actually need an alternating air mattress?

Probably not, unless someone has told you so. The VersaFlo3 is rated for Very High Risk — typically existing pressure injuries, or a clinical assessment that foam alone is insufficient. For most people a High Risk foam mattress like the IC30 or M3 is the right answer and considerably cheaper. Please talk to us before ordering this one.

What makes it hybrid rather than a plain air mattress?

It combines three things: an ActiveX foam comfort layer on top, alternating air cylinders in the middle, and an XP Support foam foundation beneath. The foam base is the important part — it prevents bottoming out if the pump fails or is switched off, which a pure air mattress cannot do.

Is the pump noisy?

It is described as whisper-quiet, with intuitive controls and adjustable cycles. If noise sensitivity is a particular concern, ask us — we can talk through what to expect before you commit.

What happens in a power cut?

The XP Support foam foundation continues to provide a supportive surface rather than the mattress collapsing. Restore power and the alternating cycle resumes. Contact us for specific guidance on managing extended outages.

What is CPR release?

A rapid deflation control that drops the mattress to a firm surface immediately, so CPR can be given effectively without moving the person off the bed.

What is the weight limit?

20kg to 140kg. Note this is lower than the foam mattresses — the IC15 goes to 300kg and the M1 to 300kg. If the user is above 140kg, this is not the right surface and we should talk.

Can I get funding for it?

Often, yes — dynamic surfaces are usually funded where the clinical need is established. It is arranged through an occupational therapist, who submits the request to Enable New Zealand or Accessable, or to ACC if the need arises from an injury. We are a registered vendor with Enable, ACC and MSD/Work and Income.
