Why choose the M3

Full-surface comfort

The edge-to-edge ActiveFloat layer provides a larger pressure-redistribution surface with no uncomfortable ridges. Where a castellated mattress works by letting blocks move independently, the M3 works by floating the whole body on one continuous surface.

Immersion and envelopment

The highly elastic, breathable ActiveFloat layer lets the body settle in and the surface come up around it — which is what actually spreads load away from bony points.

A dedicated anti-shear layer

Shear — skin dragging sideways against the surface — damages tissue even when direct pressure is well managed. The M3 addresses it twice: a dedicated anti-shear layer, plus SlideSkin in the cover.

Still stable at the edge

Firm edge support means a plush middle does not mean a collapsing side when someone sits to stand.

For long periods in bed

What is ActiveFloat and how is it different from a castellated surface?

A castellated mattress like the M2 is cut into blocks that move independently. ActiveFloat is the opposite approach — one continuous, highly elastic layer running edge to edge, so the body floats on an unbroken surface with no ridges or seams. Castellation helps with movement; flotation helps with comfort and skin protection.

How does the M3 compare to the M1 and M2?

M1 is firm, Medium Risk, up to 300kg — the bariatric option. M2 is medium feel, High Risk, up to 215kg, castellated for easier turning — the all-rounder. M3 is plush, High Risk, up to 215kg, ridge-free flotation — the comfort and fragile-skin option.

How does it compare to the IC25?

Both are the soft, immersive end of their ranges. The IC25 is 225mm with a fabric cover and a ten-year warranty. The M3 is 200mm with a waterproof Zerotec cover, SlideSkin anti-shear and Crib 5 fire rating built in, on a five-year warranty. Choose the M3 where waterproofing or fire rating matter; the IC25 where they do not.

Will a plush mattress make moving harder?

It can. Deeper immersion protects skin but takes more effort to move on. If the person is still repositioning or transferring independently, the M2 may serve them better — tell us the situation and we will say so.

Do I need a separate waterproof cover?

No — the waterproof Zerotec cover is included as standard and wipes clean.

Can I get funding for it?

Possibly. Pressure care mattresses are commonly funded where there is clinical need, particularly where skin integrity is already compromised. It is arranged through an occupational therapist, who submits the request to Enable New Zealand or Accessable, or to ACC if the need arises from an injury. We are a registered vendor with Enable, ACC and MSD/Work and Income.
