A castellated surface that earns its keep

Cutting the foam into blocks lets each one move independently. The surface contours around the body for pressure redistribution, and because the blocks flex separately, turning and repositioning take noticeably less effort than on a solid slab.

Firm edge support gives a stable surface to sit on at the side of the bed, and helps stop someone rolling out at night.

Waterproof and anti-shear as standard

The Zerotec cover wipes clean, and SlideSkin lets the top surface move with the user instead of dragging on skin. No separate waterproof cover to buy.

What does castellated actually mean?

The foam is cut into a grid of individual blocks rather than left as one solid piece. Each block compresses on its own, so the surface contours closely around the body and each part is supported independently. It is a long-established way of improving both pressure redistribution and ease of movement at the same time.

How does the M2 compare to the M1 and M3?

M1 is firm, Medium Risk, up to 300kg — the bariatric option. M2 is medium feel, High Risk, up to 215kg, castellated for easier turning — the all-rounder. M3 is plush, High Risk, up to 215kg, with ActiveFloat edge-to-edge flotation and no ridges — for fragile skin.

How does it compare to the ActiveX range?

The M2 comes with a waterproof Zerotec cover and SlideSkin anti-shear built in, and is Crib 5 fire rated. The ActiveX mattresses (IC15, IC20, IC25, IC30) have a fabric cover with waterproofing as an option, but carry a ten-year warranty against the M-Line's five.

Do I need a separate waterproof cover?

No — the waterproof Zerotec cover is included as standard and wipes clean. An absorbent bed pad on top is still useful day to day.

Will the ridges be uncomfortable?

Most people never notice them through a cover and sheet. If someone has very fragile skin or is particularly sensitive to surface texture, the M3 uses a ridge-free ActiveFloat layer instead.

Can I get funding for it?

Possibly. Pressure care mattresses are commonly funded where there is clinical need. It is arranged through an occupational therapist, who submits the request to Enable New Zealand or Accessable, or to ACC if the need arises from an injury. We are a registered vendor with Enable, ACC and MSD/Work and Income.
