Who the IC25 is really for

This is not simply the plushest option. It solves a specific problem — a lighter body does not press far enough into a firmer mattress to get the benefit of it.

Lighter users

Pressure redistribution depends on the body sinking in enough to spread the load. Someone light on a firm surface stays on top of it, concentrating pressure exactly where you do not want it.

Visible bony prominences

Where hips, sacrum, heels or shoulders stand out, deeper immersion lets the surface come up around them rather than press against them.

Paediatric pressure care

Lighter body weight makes the same problem more acute for children. The IC25 is iCare's answer for paediatric needs.

Long periods in bed

More give around sensitive areas matters when someone is not shifting position often.

Soft, but not unstable

XP Support reinforces the edges, so a deeply immersive middle does not mean a collapsing side when someone sits to stand.

Is softer always better for pressure care?

No, and this is the most common misunderstanding. Deep immersion protects skin but makes moving harder. If someone is still repositioning or transferring independently, a soft mattress can work against them — the IC15 or IC20 may serve them better. Match the mattress to the person, not to the price.

Is it suitable for a child?

Yes — the IC25 is iCare's option for paediatric pressure care needs, because lighter bodies need more immersion to get the benefit. Talk to us about the right size.

Will 225mm affect my side rails?

It might, and it is worth checking. The IC25 is the tallest mattress in the range, so less of the side rail sits above the sleeping surface. If rails are in use for entrapment or falls prevention, measure before you order and we will help you check it.

Will it work with my adjustable bed?

Yes — designed for adjustable and profiling beds, with Contour-Latch holding it in place as the sections move. It also works on a standard base.

Is it waterproof?

The standard cover is not. If incontinence is a factor, ask us about the medical-grade Zerotec cover — note that at 225mm the IC25 sits above the 20cm cover depth, so check with us before ordering one.

Can I get funding for it?

Possibly. Pressure care mattresses are commonly funded where there is clinical need. It is arranged through an occupational therapist, who submits the request to Enable New Zealand or Accessable, or to ACC if the need arises from an injury. We are a registered vendor with Enable, ACC and MSD/Work and Income.
