How is this different from a normal lift chair?
A standard lift chair lifts you to standing and reclines. The Configura adds clinical seating: tilt-in-space that is retained through the recline, adjustable seat depth, an interchangeable pressure-care cushion, and the option of lateral supports and a profiled headrest. It is prescribed where posture or pressure management matters, not just comfort.
What is tilt-in-space and why does it matter?
Tilt-in-space tips the seat and back together while keeping the hip and knee angle fixed. That redistributes pressure without dragging the skin across the surface, which is what causes shear injuries. Many chairs lose the tilt as they recline. This one keeps it.
Which size do I need?
Sizing is by seat width: Small 457mm, Medium 508mm, Large 559mm. The width between the arms narrows slightly further up. Your occupational therapist will normally measure and specify this. If you are ordering without an OT, send us the seated hip width and we will advise.
Can I use my own pressure cushion?
Yes. The cushion is interchangeable. It comes with memory foam and accepts the Comfort air-cell cushion or another specified pressure-care cushion. If your OT has prescribed a particular cushion, tell us and we will fit it.
What weight does it take?
160kg safe working load. If you need more, ask us about the Configura Bariatric, which is rated to 254kg with seat widths up to 711mm.
Will it fit in the room?
Seated it is 760mm wide, 1700mm deep and 1145mm high. In the rise position it needs 960mm of depth and 1500mm of height. Reclined it extends to 1650mm (Small) or 1745mm (Medium). Allow clearance behind and in front.
Is it hard to keep clean?
No. The contact areas are removable for cleaning, and the upholstery is a four-way stretch vapour-permeable fabric on the seat, leg rest and armrests. It is built for care environments.
Can I get funding for this chair?
Rise-recline chairs are not a standard funded category, so they are most often private-pay or funded as a top-up. That said, Cubro is a specialist rehabilitation manufacturer, which matters for ACC exception criteria. We are a registered vendor with Enable New Zealand, ACC and MSD/Work and Income — ask your OT to contact us and we will provide a formal written quote addressed to the funder, with every accessory itemised separately as required.
How is it delivered?
Free delivery anywhere in New Zealand. It arrives fully assembled and weighs 68 to 71kg, so please have two people available to position it.
Does Mobility Plus have a physical store?
No. We are online only, based in Putaruru, South Waikato, and we ship nationwide. Trials and viewings can be arranged by appointment.
