How is the Duo Plus different from the standard Casero Duo?
It is not simply a bigger version. The safe working load rises from 250kg to 450kg and maximum user weight from 215kg to 410kg, on a heavier chassis. Sizes are Double and Queen rather than Single and Super Single. Importantly, the height range differs too — the Duo Plus runs 260mm to 660mm where the standard Duo runs 184mm to 760mm. Everything else (extension, Trendelenburg, CPR, central braking, angles) is shared.
Does it lower to 184mm like the Casero Duo?
No. Cubro's specification table gives the Duo Plus a minimum platform height of 260mm. If you need the ultra-low 184mm for falls prevention, that is the standard Casero Duo in Single or Super Single. We would rather tell you that up front than have you buy the wrong bed.
Can two people sleep in it?
Yes — that is one of the two reasons it exists. Sleeping widths are 135cm (Double) and 150cm (Queen). Bear in mind the whole bed profiles together, so raising the head raises it for both people. If you each need independent positioning, two single beds side by side is the better arrangement.
Which mattress fits this bed?
A Double or Queen pressure care mattress. The Posture-Temp comes in both, and the Alera MaxxLine 250 is available to order in those sizes. Contact us and we will quote the bed and mattress together as one price.
Will it fit through my doorway?
Yes. It is assembled in the room it will be used in. Measure the room instead — and remember a Queen at 163cm overall width needs real space around it if a carer is working both sides.
Can I see one before I buy?
We do not keep a Duo Plus on hand, but we do have the Cubro Caro in our Putaruru showroom, which gives you a good feel for Cubro's build and finish. Book a video call and we will walk you around it. Our showroom is open by appointment if you would rather come in person.
Can I get funding for it?
Possibly. Bariatric equipment is commonly funded where the clinical need is established, arranged through an occupational therapist who submits to Enable New Zealand or Accessable, or to ACC if the need arises from an injury. We are a registered vendor with Enable, ACC and MSD/Work and Income.
